Arts & Entertainment Achievement Award goes to the Rotary Centre for the Arts

On October 12, the Rotary Centre for the Arts received the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce 2017 Business Excellence Award for Arts & Entertainment Achievement.

“It’s terrific when Arts and Culture organizations are recognized for their business acumen as well as their artistic merits. The importance of culturally connecting with community, showing a return on government and donor investment, partnering with local businesses, and embracing cultural tourism cannot be understated. Arts and Culture bring a community together but they also play a key role in local economy and that often gets overlooked,” said Executive Director, Patrick LeBlanc.

As a multidisciplinary arts centre servicing over 240,000 visits annually, the Rotary Centre for the Arts is home to 9 resident artist studios, the Mary Irwin Theatre, ArtsCo, Cool Arts, Potters Addict, Theatre Kelowna, New Vintage Theatre, the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art, the RCA Bistro, and hundreds of individuals and organizations that paint, dance, sing, act, film, and/or perform here every day.

Congratulations to both Ballet Kelowna and Wentworth music who were also nominated for this inaugural award. We are happy to see them recognized for their hard work and commitment to our community.

Patrick accepted the award on behalf of the Rotary Centre for the Arts, with the following words:

“The Rotary Centre for the Arts turns 15 on November 2 and I can’t think of a better birthday present than this award. Many of you out there tonight are business leaders and company heads. You know how when things are going great you thank your staff, but when things aren’t going quite so well it’s all your fault? Well tonight I am happy to be able to congratulate and thank the staff, board of directors, and volunteers at the Rotary Centre for the Arts for their dedication and hard work getting us where we are today. This is a tremendous honour. Thank you.”
