EXHIBIT: Dylan Ranney, ‘We Could Be Heroes’

July 2 @ 10:00 am - July 30 @ 8:00 pm

- Free

Great West Life Mezzanine Exhibition

Artist Statement:

“In a world of simulation, who are the heroes we play in reality? From fuzzy dreaming and innocent play to societal struggles of mental health and identity, We Could Be Heroes examines the roles and masks we put on in our minds. Each moment in our life, whether dreaming or conscious- empowers or disempowers the hero we could be in that moment.

The series consists of 10 canvases painted in acrylic and acrylic mediums. I have used varied sizes of canvases, some boards, some framed and some not. I have painted in a gestural style both abstract and representational imagery. All this non-conformity is a response to our society’s general obsession with uniformity. After all, there’s only one superman, only one spider man, and only one of You.”
