Photography Exhibit by Hilda Reimer contrasting Antarctica with the Arctic
“Born and raised in the Prairies I chose to make the North Thompson valley my home in the mid ‘80’s. Being drawn to nature and surrounded by infinite beauty, “painting with light“ through the lens of a camera soon became my life’s passion. Extensive world travel has given me untold moments of photographic inspiration.
Throughout the past twenty years my skills as a chef has led me to both Antarctica and the Arctic. These two polar environments contain numerous contrasts and yet many similarities: Antarctica with its vast raw beauty, ice, and penguins and the Arctic with its isolation, color, and Inuit life. Due to climate issues we know that life in both polar environments is changing drastically. It is my hope that through this exhibition I can share just a small glimpse of the beauty, grandeur, ruggedness, and fragility held within these remote and phenomenal polar climates. An experience that has been both a privilege and a blessing to me.”
