Jane was born in Lagos Nigeria in 1999. She is a self-taught artist and did not learn within art classes or from instructional mediums. She decided to learn these techniques for herself in order to find her own art style. Jane’s passion for art began as a competition with a friend over who could create the best cartoon and although she unfortunately lost that rivalry she gained access into expression.
She works in mediums most often of sketching, painting and photography. Her work is mainly centered on that of perception and how there is more hidden behind what we can normally be seen on the surface. Jane is constantly being inspired through the challenges that have come along with the negative labels of being a girl, an African American and Nigerian. She uses her art to express that there is more hidden beneath those stereotypes which often accompany those titles and perceptions. Her art goes under the surface that people chose only to see.
