In the Great West Life Mezzanine
Shannon was born in Vancouver and grew up in Penticton, BC. Her formal education began in Kinesiology which led to policing in the City of Edmonton for nearly ten years.
Upon meeting her husband, she began living and traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Her experiences in Europe – the natural landscapes, cityscapes, and vivid colours – drew my interests toward painting. Admiring countless artists’ work enabled her to study what she wanted to create. Her focus then turned to expression through abstract painting.
Art has fostered in her a continuous love of learning. Shannon believes there is no right or wrong way to paint. She focuses on light, colour, and depth, often using texture. She uses many layers of paint to create something rich and interesting – using only fine acrylic products.
Most often Shannon is drawn to earthy tones and inspired by waterscapes. While she am also drawn to the cityscape, and enjoy street works and art with a more industrial flair. Her most recent Spring Series that will be exhibited is based on abstract florals using rich colours with a few muted tones.
Most will be full of texture and depth and some will be flat and clean giving them a modern organic feel. All of her pieces are described as modern contemporary and are displayed in show homes, wineries, offices, and private home collections. Please watch her on Instagram at shannoncrossart!
Shannon currently resides in both Kelowna, BC and Calgary, AB with her husband and two young children.
