Artist Statement
The Project Planner at temperature-blanket.com was used as a tool for planning the panels for each decade. This is a free website “which uses weather data to create a beautiful, creative work(s) of art!”
Ponderosa Fibre Arts guild’s weavers chose to compare yearly weather data for every ten years from 1943 to 2023 in Kelowna. We set the colour palette ranges based on approximately equal numbers of days in each colour range for year 1943. We used these 1943 colour ranges for the panels for all other years. 9 weavers participated in the creations of these panels. Thank you for engaging with this project about our current climate crisis.
