December 6, 2022The RCA Brings Holiday Cheer to the Okanagan

It’s the most wonderful time of the year at the RCA. Craft markets, twinkly lights, and piles of snow abound throughout Kelowna’s Cultural District as we gear up for the holidays. If you’re looking for a break from the cold outside, head over to the RCA for a hot chocolate from Roma Nord Bistro and tons of family-friendly holiday events! Reservations for dinner are highly recommended.

It's the best of Christmas in one theatre production! RCA and New Vintage Theatre Present: North Pole Stories, by Bonnie Gratz, starts December 8th and runs until December 17th. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Elves have a visitor this holiday- a ten-year-old boy who thinks he is too old for Christmas. Determined to change his mind, they act out their favourite stories and Christmas' most popular characters and songs. North Pole Stories is all the magic of the holiday season for the whole family. With the help of a little winter magic, the classic stories come to life, sure to delight and captivate young and old alike.

"For our 10th season I wanted to write a new Christmas play, but keep the things I loved about the season, too,” says Bonnie Gratz, Artistic Director & Playwright. “I created a Shrek-style mashup of all of my favourite things about the holidays the legends, characters, and music- and that is North Pole Stories."

Enjoy New Vintage Theatre's annual season celebration, with music and interactive post-show activities with Santa and characters from the play! Your ticket purchase will even get you a photo with Santa after the show. This is one holiday performance you won’t want to miss. Get your tickets here

Mission Dance Centre will be bringing the age-old classic, The Nutcracker, to the Mary Irwin Theatre on December 22nd and 23rd. This iconic holiday performance features internationally acclaimed guest artist, Kealan McLaughlin, along side the talented crew at Mission Dance. Witness the exquisite Sugar-Plum Fairy and her Prince, the dancing reindeer, silly clowns, and the exciting battle between the pestering mice and the Nutcracker Soldier’s devoted army. Mission Dance makes this tradition child-friendly yet entertaining for all generations and an exciting display of the arts. Tickets are still available here
