The Ponderosa Spinners, Weavers & Fibre Artists Guild has been in existence since December, 1973. Members are committed to fostering the art and craft of the fibre arts, to educate, help and support each other, and to encourage beginners. The Ponderosa Spinners, Weavers & Fibre Artists offer classes and workshops in various aspects of fibre arts including weaving, spinning, rug hooking, felting, needle felting, warp and roving painting, dyeing and silk fusion.
Members also organize study groups which focus on specific aspects of fibre arts that are pursued in greater depth. A good library is available to members and spinning and weaving related equipment is available for rent. The Ponderosa Spinners Weavers & Fibre Artists invite speakers to their monthly meetings, have weekly drop-ins to their studio, and encourage bi-weekly spinning group gatherings.
The Ponderosa Spinners offer a school program, focused on Grade 3 students, in the spring of each year. In addition, they participate in various public spinning and weaving activities throughout the Valley, attend the annual Sheep to Shawl competition at the Salmon Arm Fall Fair, and host 50 participants in their annual Spin-In. The Ponderosa Spinners, Weavers & Fibre Artists encourage anyone who has an interest in the Fibre Arts to join their friendly and active group!
