Drinking Habits presented by TKS

Accusations, mistaken identities, and romances run wild in this traditional, laugh-out-loud farce. Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent’s doors open, but Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancees, are hot on their trail. They go undercover as a nun and priest, but their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, spurs paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down. Wine and secrets are inevitably spilled as everyone tries to preserve the convent and reconnect with lost loves.

La Monarca: The Monarch and the Butterfly Effect (Flamenco)

Rotary Centre for the Arts presents A Flamenco Dance Show
La Monarca: The Monarch and the Butterfly Effect
with Flamenco Rosario

The monarch butterfly’s sleepy transformation from its caterpillar stage is akin to how I felt when I began researching La Monarca: The Monarch and the Butterfly Effect. It was as if I was emerging from an artistic metamorphosis and awakening to a renewed life of creative maturity with its freedom to embrace risks.

La Monarca, reflects on my continual motion, travelling between mexico where I was born, Spain – the Mecca of Flamenco, and Canada – my new home. Being a migrant between three homes reminded of the recurrent autumn pilgrimage of the monarch butterflies between Canada and Mexico. “How do they do it?” It is not difficult to guess; it is connected to survival.

The monarch’s cycle of life and constant migration gave me a understanding of this unique and magnificent creature and provided me with an insight into my own motivations and driving force.

La Monarca is a very personal work – emotional, and resonant with the meaning of my life. La Monarca ties into many elements that I have been interested in developing over the years – growing from diverse inspirations, small experiments, past collaborations, and even some large successes on my journey. I look at these antecedents, seeing some that grew, unexpectedly, from small ideas – a minor movement and a vision just glimpsed – brought together into this new work, emergent, beautiful and unexpected: the butterfly effect.

Campground with Lucas Myers

Presented by the Rotary Centre for the Arts

A young man goes missing from a provincial campground while on a personal journey to discover himself. Four people are suspects, despite lack of evidence aside from Facebook posts and the video from the young man’s cell phone but the overzealous detective is undeterred. Was there foul play? More importantly, did someone remember to bring the toilet paper (and the potato salad)? Lucas Myers brings his trademark brand of observational humor and brilliant character work to this examination of the world within a world that can only be found in THE CAMPGROUND.

WARNING: FLASHLIGHTS, SELF-DISCOVERY, DIDGERIDOO

Was it the hipster on the wharf with a bag of stale gluten-free buns? Or the redneck on the beach with the out-of-control jet ski? When a young man goes missing, an overzealous and somewhat inexperienced police officer must use clues from iPhone videos and Facebook posts to piece together what might have happened over one crazy weekend in the world within a world that is THE CAMPGROUND! Was there foul play? More importantly, did anyone remember toilet paper?

Featuring original songs, video and Lucas Myers unique brand of observational humor and brilliant character work, CAMPGROUND is a hilarious theatrical experience not to be missed!

Do some sleuthing on your own! Visit the Facebook profiles of Justin Case from Vancouver and Michael Hodgkins from Medicine Hat and see if you can find some clues!
