THE NUTCRACKER

featuring Okanagan Ballet Theatre & Guests

Artistic Director/Producer, Tanya Vadurova is pleased to announce: MISSION DANCE COMPANY will be bringing their annual enchanting and beautiful production of “THE NUTCRACKER” to the stage this December 2025. Featuring guesting dancers of the OKANAGAN BALLET THEATRE along with special guests.

Come and join Mission Dance Company as they present this performance featuring their accomplished and passionate dancers, magical, larger than life, growing Christmas tree plus narration that will enhance the understanding of this classic story. You are taken back in time with the majestic dancing of the party guests & children, and lively seasonal celebrations in which we witness the magic and surprising eccentricity of Uncle Drosslemeyer who brings many gifts including the special life-sized toys to entertain the party guests. He also brings his special creation of the very magnificent gift of the Nutcracker to Clara while her mischievous little brother, Fritz, plots to disrupt the evening. The performers will have their audience in a state of suspense and laughter throughout the entirety of the show.

Feel the joy of the season through dance and this age old tale as you follow young Clara through her extraordinary dream of an adventure. Witness the exquisite Sugar-Plum Fairy, Nutcracker Prince, the dancing reindeer, silly clowns and the exciting battle between the pestering mice and the Nutcracker Soldier’s devoted army. Mission Dance Company makes this holiday tradition child-friendly yet entertaining for all generations. This exciting display of the arts is a high-quality and exciting production you do not want to miss!

All audience members will be swept away in time by the magic of this age old tale in this production featuring the breathtaking dancing of the locally established Okanagan Ballet Theatre and the impressive young dancers of Mission Dance Company as they all fill the stage on their toes… leaving everyone to wonder how they can balance and twirl on just the tip of their special pointe shoes. Child friendly yet entertaining for all generations. A story full of so many characters to enjoy: fun, suspenseful, beautiful, eccentric, kind, ridiculous, mischievous, charming.

About the Artistic Director:

Tanya Vadurova was personally inspired at a young age after seeing The Nutcracker National Ballet of Canada’s Nutcracker in Toronto. Ms Vadurova began her passionate journey training full-time & performing with the prestigious National Ballet School in Toronto and later in Europe to further develop her expertise in ballet, flamenco, and modern dance. She has dedicated 21 years to creating and building Mission Dance Centre & Co; now a school and a dance academy coupled with a performing company mentoring dancers’ heart-driven dreams to dance professionally and for athletic/musical discipline.

About the Okanagan Ballet Theatre (OBT):

We are thrilled to announce that members of the Okanagan Ballet Theatre (OBT) will again join this production of The Nutcracker 2025. As a newly established ballet company in Kelowna, OBT is dedicated to celebrating the artistry and discipline of classical ballet while embracing contemporary innovation.

The Okanagan Ballet Theatre Society aims to provide both emerging and seasoned dancers with a platform to showcase their talents and tell compelling stories through dance.
