Art in the Classroom

2023/2024

Art in the Classroom modules for Grades 4 to 6 are designed by teachers for teachers with guidelines using current British Columbia (BC) core educational curriculum. These free teaching modules incorporate the arts into various subjects from the Northern Lights to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals across various subjects.

Grade 4 to 6 Art Teaching Modules – designed by UBC Community Field Experience Students

UBC Teaching students developed the classroom lesson plans for the RCA that incorporate art into the BC core curriculum from Grades 4 to 6. The 11 lessons plans are available now for 2023/2024 - for the first semester as visiting the RCA and Cultural District on a field trip may not be feasible due to COVID. The lesson plans are free of charge and include lesson outlines, slideshows, links for further research, and relevant handouts.

Each lesson plan includes learning objectives, BC curricular competencies, and content, in addition to detailed descriptions of each lesson.
