Misconceptions and Imagination: Film Screenings

The Okanagan International Film Festival (OKIFF) celebrates Canadian, international and Indigenous cinema while supporting the continued growth of the Okanagan’s film and television industry. By bringing filmmakers, audiences and industry leaders together, OKIFF creates opportunities for connection and collaboration while showcasing the region as a premier destination for film production and creative talent.

Thought Bobbles (Canada, language: English) 02:00 minutes
A teenage boy named Bob has to take a Pre-Calculus exam while his intrusive thoughts begin to cloud his mind. Worrying about the worst outcomes, his thoughts spiral until he’s completely lost focus of the test itself. Will Bob be able to regain control and push the bad thoughts away? Will he finish the test?

The Left Leader (Iran, language: Persian) 09:38 minutes
An old woman takes a taxi to the airport every day to meet her son, who is a passenger on a Ukrainian plane.

Half Unseen (Iran, language: Persian) 11:21 minutes
"My mother was sure she was going to have twins, but then she just gave birth to me. Of course, everyone except herself knew we weren't going to be twins, but my mother always believed what she wanted, not what was... and I ended up being an only twin, or a twin with an only son, or something along those lines."

Cartapesta-: Carnival of Fano (Italy, language: Italian) 1:29:00 minutes
Italy’s oldest Carnival, memories, footages, a very powerful imagery rooted over the centuries in one city: Fano. A tradition, that of papier-mâché, and its float masters who, generation after generation, have been able to blend creativity, engineering and manual skills to build those traveling stages called floats. A character, named Vulón, encountering a child. He doesn’t know anything about the Carnival of Fano. No one better than a Carnival mask to walk him around through parades, costumes and sweets and to tell him that after all, Carnival is more than a simple celebration: it’s a feeling, a state of mind that warms the heart of a city and of the territory around. And while the carnival week is getting to an end, somebody is up and ready for a new beginning…
