Beauty in the Beast - Art For Change

Alex Fong Galleria, Rotary Centre For The Arts.

Often the reason for throwing away an object is because it is no longer deemed beautiful. Rubbish! Trash artists from around the world are aware of the valuable commodity that exists within discarded materials.

Just like the innovative recycled and upcycled building producers featured in Jenga Jenga, artists participating in Beauty in the Beast use their imagination and skill to change our perception of the value and beauty that lies within discarded materials. Beauty in the Beast showcases the work of the following trash artists:

Zala Virendrasinh - paper montage, India

Miriam Tetler, paper maché, Canada

U Thet Wai - paper maché, Myanmar

Daren Williams - automotive and household metal, Canada

Becky TenVeen, Wingnut Whimsey, nuts and bolts, Canada

Leslie Leong - mixed media (computer consoles, wood, clay), Canada
