Artist Statement
Street art/graffiti subculture has been seen as the “boys club,” which has inspired Holly to create space for the performance of feminist art. Holly’s art on the streets, as well as on canvases typically symbolize strong female or LGBTQI models. As a non binary artist Holly has enjoyed breaking stereotypes or taboos on what females/non binary folks should or shouldn’t do.
Artist Biography
Holly emerged as an artist in the early 2000’s as a stencil artist on the streets of Winnipeg, Manitoba. They were drawn to the graffiti/street art world as they have always felt this style of art transcends socio economic barriers while also allowing artists to express themselves freely in ways that foster urban regeneration. Holly’s main inspiration is strong female and queer models utilizing bright vibrant colour schemes in order to create loud spaces for these individuals.
