Artist Statement/Bio
Moozhan Ahmadzadegan is an emerging contemporary artist and designer based on the unceded and ancestral territory of the Syilx people (Okanagan, BC). Moozhan's artistic practice is primarily based in painting and screenprinting. While both media vary in results, they often share a unified underlying objective. His practice engages personal and social investigation as a means to navigate identity and participate within the larger discourse through visual materials. Oftentimes, his work involves exploring themes such as identity, culture, queerness, resistance, social justice, creative intervention, and more. The themes embedded in Moozhan's work, while very personal, are not only for his own investigations, but to make visible the experiences of others and to create a space for open dialogue and awareness surrounding social issues.
