The Artists Behind Opus Art Supplies

Artist Statement

Group artist statement:  

The team from Opus Art Supplies in Kelowna have come together to showcase the talents we possess. Just as any artist must, each of us has spent many long hours perfecting our craft. For Dylan the sun rises as he adds his final acrylic brush stroke to a surrealist painting, whereas Brandon wakes early to take in the morning’s melodic inspirations.  

For others, it's not the time but the place: Sat between the orange glow of a beeswax taper and an evening-blue window, Katie allows her mind to wander into whimsy, whereas Leah explores the flora and fauna of the tangible world through watercolour.  

Sights and sounds guide some; accompanied by the warmth of her favourite podcast, Paige’s precision is unwavering and tattoo worthy, and Mar lets the familiarity of a Studio Ghibli film carry her through her cinema-esque vignettes. An otherwise simple conversation sparks a note with Ryan, resulting in captivating acrylic paintings that lure your eyes in, and ethereal figures in Jesse’s work invite the viewer into quiet, contemplative spaces that explore what it means to exist in flux. 

We are all grateful to be a part of Opus Art Supplies in Kelowna. This store is known to foster inspiration and artistic endeavors. We take our everyday exchanges with the community and transform them into creative energy. What we are left with is art that goes beyond our retail operation.
