As you start thinking about your holiday shopping, we’ve got a creative way for you to give back to your community during this season of giving. Today is Giving Tuesday! For the past 10 years, this has been a day to do good for others, with millions of dollars being raised across Canada for charities, non-profits, organizations, and more. Within our own circle of the arts, we know the past few years have been overwhelmingly challenging for artists and art organizations at all levels.
“Today and every day, our community charities thrive on your support,” says Colleen Fitzpatrick, Executive Director of the RCA. “Whether it's bolstering the arts or championing another cherished cause, your generosity matters. Let's unite in nurturing the vibrant generosity of our community. At the Rotary Centre for the Arts, we aspire to shape the next twenty years as Kelowna's artistic and cultural hub, and we humbly seek your contributions. Every donation, regardless of size, fuels our mission as a non-profit, ensuring our continued delivery of exceptional programs that enrich our community”.
As a recognized charitable organization, the RCA relies on the generosity of our patrons, sponsors, donors, and people like you to continue providing outstanding arts and culture experiences. Every time you purchase a ticket to a show, a piece of art off our walls, an arts workshop experience, or a spot in one of our camps for your little one, you are helping to keep arts and culture alive in the Okanagan through what we do at the RCA. That’s why this Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join us in building new opportunities to experience, learn, and connect through creativity by donating today. Big or small, your donations help us bring arts education, live performances, and so much more to those in our community.
This year, 2023, the RCA has made strides in connecting our community in new, unique ways. In March, the Indigenous Resilience Festival (IRF) brought together Indigenous people from across BC for an all-day festival celebrating and reflecting on the Indigenous experience. This was a great learning opportunity for non-Indigenous members of our community, providing a space for discussion and empowerment for those who told their stories on stage. We are so grateful to our community and supporters for helping us make IRF a success. We were incredibly privileged to have been able to bring 44 Indigenous artists, storytellers, dancers, and more, together to share their knowledge with us. Check out Half 9 Media’s documentation of IRF here.

This past summer, the RCA had a special opportunity to bring completely free arts programming to youth, teens, and families. In RCA Summer of Arts, made possible through support from the Sedin Family Foundation, we got to explore Visual Arts, Textile Arts, DJing, Circus Arts, Street Dance, and much more. By bringing free, accessible programs to youth and families in our community, we were able to provide a space with no barriers, allowing everyone to be able to experience art and express themselves in meaningful ways.

These sorts of events and programs would not be possible without the generosity of sponsors and donors.
Join us in backing the organizations and causes close to your heart. Our accessible programming, live performances, workshops, events, and everything in between, are made possible by people like you. Your generous contributions will empower the RCA to nurture comprehensive arts education programs and create vibrant live audience experiences. Our societies are stronger when non-profit organizations have the resources they need to do their vital work. At the RCA, we believe access to the arts plays a vital role in bringing people together, and we are committed to supporting creativity for all. Our vision is to foster a vibrant and sustainable connection between the community, artists, and audiences, striving to bridge gaps and create a dynamic cultural space.
For every donation made today on Giving Tuesday, Canada Helps will automatically add an additional 1%, helping your donation go even further. Terms and conditions are available here. Thank you for supporting Kelowna’s arts and culture hub on Giving Tuesday.
