Happy Giving Tuesday! Amidst the holiday buzz - planning gifts, shopping deals, and festive preparations - it’s also a time to think about giving back. Across Canada, nonprofits are asking for support to continue making a difference in our communities. That’s what Giving Tuesday is all about: celebrating generosity. As you embrace the season of giving, consider donating to a local charity to spread joy and help those in need. While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the biggest shopping days of the year, Giving Tuesday on December 3rd marks something greater.
“Today and every day, our community charities thrive on your support,” says Colleen Fitzpatrick, Executive Director of the RCA. “Whether it's bolstering the arts or championing another cherished cause, your generosity matters. Let's unite in nurturing the vibrant generosity of our community. At the Rotary Centre for the Arts, we aspire to shape the next twenty years as Kelowna's artistic and cultural hub, and we humbly seek your contributions. Every donation, regardless of size, fuels our mission as a non-profit, ensuring our continued delivery of exceptional programs that enrich our community”.
As a charitable organization, the RCA depends on the generosity of our patrons, sponsors, and community members like you to deliver exceptional arts and culture experiences. Every theatre ticket purchased, workshop registration, or summer camp participant helps sustain arts and culture in the Okanagan. This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join us in fostering creativity by making a donation. Big or small, your contributions directly support arts education, live performances, and inclusive community programs. Together, we can ensure creativity thrives for everyone.
There are many reasons why supporting arts is important. The arts are the cornerstone of vibrant communities and can help one’s personal growth. Art of all kinds enrich lives, inspire creativity, and foster connection, shaping a brighter, more inclusive future. Supporting artists, creative workers, and arts organizations ensures that Kelowna remains a hub of innovation and culture, where everyone can experience and benefit of the arts. By investing in creativity, we sustain a thriving city where culture flourishes and opportunities abound for all.
Every year, the RCA strengthens its role as a cultural hub, bringing together artists and the community. In 2024, we celebrated world-class performances like Dominique Fils-Aimé in the Mary Irwin Theatre, hosted meaningful exhibitions such as Hummingbird Spirits: Strength and Resilience by Tania Willard and UBCO, collaborated with local artists to host unique workshops, helped create our Youth Mural Project with Syilx artist Sheldon Pierre Louis, launched our dynamic 2024-25 season, and much more. These accomplishments are thanks to the generosity of supporters like you.
Support the causes and organizations that matter most to you this Giving Tuesday. Your contributions help the RCA deliver accessible programming, workshops, live performances, and vibrant arts education initiatives. We believe in the power of the arts to unite communities, foster creativity, and build a dynamic cultural space for all. Together, we can ensure the RCA continues to connect artists, audiences, and the community in meaningful ways. Join us in making a difference—every gift counts!
