As a multi-disciplinary performing arts, and cultural centre, we are proud to serve our community. The Kelowna Visual and Performing Arts Centre Society (KVPACS) is a non-profit society that manages the Rotary Centre for the Arts and governed by a volunteer board of directors. We recently held our Annual General Meeting and welcomed three new board members who bring valuable skills and perspectives to our organisation. At the RCA, we value feedback from our community, and with the support of our board, we remain committed to operating at the highest level for people we serve.
Neal Facey – Director
Neal Facey has called Kelowna his home for over 40 years. First graduating from the University of Victoria, Neal then went on to work as a theatre and music teacher in Kelowna. Being deeply entrenched in the world of theatre, Neal has notably directed shows for Theatre Kelowna, Bumbleshoot Theatre, Shakespeare Kelowna, and Viva Musica. He has lent his talents to other organisations, serving as a stage director for the Okanagan Arts awards and as a Production Manager for Opera Kelowna. After his retirement from teaching, Neal worked for UBCO as a facility advisor in the education department. Currently, he is the conductor and music director of the Phoenix Rising Singers, a vibrant community choir.
Leanna Curtis – Director
Leanna Curtis is a proud Cree Métis woman from Treaty 6 Territory, now living in Kelowna, BC. Serving as the Indigenous Health Coordinator in Outreach for the Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society, in partnership with the Central Okanagan Primary Care Network. Her work focuses on Indigenous Health equity, cultural safety, and trauma-informed care. Leanna has a true passion for the arts, having recently curated an exhibition at the RCA, giving Indigenous artists from the Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society a deserved platform to showcase their work. The exhibit featured both her own artwork and her son’s Elk hide drum. Leanna is currently studying Indigenous Health Leadership through the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine and Business Management through UBC Sauder School of Business.
Thiago Munhoz – Director
Originally from Brazil, Thiago Munhoz settled in the Okanagan several years prior with his wife, Julia, and their two sons. The youngest of his children is currently studying Arts at Okanagan College. He is an accomplished IT leader with over 10 years of formal education in Information Technology and Business. Currently serving as Manager of Software and Enterprise Systems at Okanagan College, Munhoz and his team are dedicated to improving the digital tools utilised by staff, faculty, and students. Through a deep appreciation of the natural beauty of the Okanagan and Kelowna’s vibrant arts scene, he strives to support both creative innovation and artistic tradition.
Supporting the Arts
We are deeply grateful for the time and dedication our board of directors provides, directly contributing to the success of our organisation. Their support helps the RCA continue to serve our community by providing access to the arts in many forms. A strong investment in the arts builds social connection, supports local economies through cultural tourism, and improves individual wellbeing by reducing stress and promoting a healthier quality of life. We are entering the year ahead with renewed energy. With new voices at the table and continued support from our community, we’re stepping into this next chapter with a shared commitment to strengthening the arts in our region.
