We were thrilled to welcome back one of our most beloved community programs for 2026: The Creative Exchange. This free public gathering invites creators of all backgrounds and disciplines to come together, connect with one another, share their work, and spark new ideas. At its heart, The Creative Exchange is about building relationships across genres and generations, creating space for collaboration, and celebrating the creative spirit that thrives in our community.
Through our spotlight presenter format, attendees have the opportunity to connect with established local creators, gaining insight into their processes, challenges, and inspirations. These conversations open doors to mentorship, collaboration, and fresh ways of thinking. Events like The Creative Exchange play an essential role in sustaining a vibrant local arts scene. They provide a welcoming platform to test new ideas, share works in progress, and step outside familiar creative lanes. By listening to perspectives from artists working in different mediums and fields, participants are encouraged to think expansively and approach their own practice with renewed curiosity.
Each month, we are joined by our host, Michael Averill. An insightful and engaging speaker, musician, storyteller, and community builder, Michael brings warmth and depth to every gathering. His career has been marked by meaningful milestones, including receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for Music and Community Well-Being from the Visioneers International Network and completing a remarkable 4,000-mile walk across Canada. His approachable nature and gift for storytelling create an atmosphere where participants feel both supported and inspired. Under his guidance, The Creative Exchange continues to grow as a dynamic hub for artistic connection.

A Night Buzzing with Creative Energy
Our first event of the year was a resounding success. Creators filled the room, eager to share their talents and engage with one another. Michael led the group through thoughtful creative exercises designed to spark conversation and reflection. Participants explored questions about inspiration, beauty, and the moments that shape their artistic journeys. In sharing these personal insights, connections formed naturally and perspectives broadened.
