Rotary Centre for the Arts presents
KENNY "BLUES BOSS" WAYNE
This high energy show will take you on a journey back to a time when piano players ruled in Texarkana, New Orleans, St. Louis, Chicago and Kansas City with classic barrelhouse boogie piano. The sound of the piano could be heard in just about every juke joint throughout the Southern states. It all originated in Southern gospel churches, where the shouting of the choir filled the room, singing old-time religious songs led by the choir director, with the piano player driving it all. This show will be an exciting and informative adventure.
Award-winning pianist Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne will be joined by Russell Jackson, the legendary bass man who played with the late, great B.B. King’s band for seven years. He has also worked with many other blues legends throughout his long career. Sherman Doucette, a local giant in the blues scene, will be playing harmonica and is a collector of vintage instruments. Joey DiMarco will round out the group, showcasing his extensive professional drumming career.
