The RCA Arts Blast Spring Break Camps wrapped up an incredible two weeks filled with creativity, energy, and connection. Designed for children ages 5–12, this year’s camps welcomed more than 75 enthusiastic participants who explored movement, music, drama, and visual art in a vibrant and supportive environment.
Exploring Creativity Across Disciplines
From the moment camp began, the studios were alive with curiosity and imagination. Campers rotated through a wide range of activities, including drama and music classes alongside hands-on visual arts experiences such as watercolour, collage, and canvas painting. This variety allowed each child to discover new interests, build confidence, and express themselves in meaningful ways. Whether stepping into a character for the first time or experimenting with colour and texture, participants were encouraged to take creative risks and celebrate their individuality.
A Community Effort
The success of our Arts Blast camps is rooted in the people who bring it to life. This spring, four talented instructors, three dedicated youth volunteers, and one RCA volunteer worked together to create a welcoming and engaging space for young artists. Supported by the commitment and coordination of RCA staff, the program reflects a shared dedication to nurturing creativity and connection in our community. It truly takes a village, and that spirit was felt throughout the two weeks.
Joy, Connection, and Growth
Beyond the activities themselves, the camps were filled with joy, laughter, and a strong sense of belonging. New friendships blossomed, confidence grew, and meaningful connections formed between participants and instructors alike. One parent shared their thoughts on the RCA kids’ camps: “I highly recommend them for parents looking for a safe, positive, culturally rich camp activity for your kids!” Her words capture the spirit of the camps and the lasting impact they have on children and families.
A Showcase to Remember

The program culminated in a vibrant end-of-week showcase in our Mary Irwin Theatre, where more than 150 family members and friends gathered to celebrate the children’s creative journeys. For many campers, this performance is a highlight: an opportunity to step onto a professional stage and share what they’ve learned in a fun and supportive setting. The pride and excitement in the room were a testament to the dedication and growth that unfolded over the course of the camp.
Spring Break Camps filled faster than ever this year, with more young people participating than in previous seasons. It’s a clear sign that families in our community are actively looking for creative, hands-on experiences for their kids, and are choosing the RCA as a place where they can explore, build confidence, and connect.
Looking Ahead to Summer
Looking ahead, the energy continues into the summer. Arts Blast Summer Camps will run from June 29 to August 24, with each week offering a unique themed experience. From Messy Masterpieces to Storybook Adventures, every camp is designed to spark imagination, encourage creative exploration, and provide children with a space to learn, connect, and thrive.
