February 25, 2026RCA Gallery Reception: Fresh Art, Fresh Perspectives

A new season of art has arrived at the RCA, filling our walls with colour, texture, and story. From masterful quilting to expressive mixed-media paintings, this exhibition celebrates the depth and diversity of creative talent in the Okanagan. Each work reflects unique perspectives and landscapes, inviting visitors to engage with art that is both personal and deeply rooted in place.

We are deeply grateful for the incredible support shown at this event, which brought together KVPACS and RCA board members, local cultural organizations, artists, and community members for an evening of connection and celebration. Throughout the night, guests explored the exhibits and experienced firsthand the depth of creative talent in our region, enjoying a selection of delicious snacks and wine generously provided by our sponsor, Sandhill Wines. Events like this not only showcase the talent of local artists but also celebrate the powerful impact the arts have on our community, culture, and economy.

“Supporting local artists means more than providing wall space; it means creating opportunity, visibility, and connection. When we showcase Okanagan artists in a free and accessible gallery, we are investing in the cultural heartbeat of our community. Local artists shape how we see our city, tell our stories, and understand one another. It is a privilege for the RCA to be a platform where their creativity can flourish and be celebrated,” added Colleen Fitzpatrick, Executive Director.

Ponderosa Fibre Arts Guild: June Temperatures for Kelowna (Embroidery)

Dedicated to preserving and celebrating the art of fibre, the Ponderosa Fibre Arts Guild offers workshops and public events that share this craft with the Okanagan community. For this exhibition, nine guild members drew on a decade of summer weather data from Kelowna to capture the changing skies and seasonal shifts in colour, pattern, and texture. The resulting panels form a visual tapestry that celebrates craft, observation, and the stories of our city.

Orchard Valley Quilters Guild: Beyond Quilting

The Orchard Valley Quilters Guild is a welcoming community of makers blending traditional and modern techniques to create quilts and wearable art. Inspired by architecture, nature, and the world around them, they bring fresh perspective to a long-practiced craft while giving back through quilts for Kelowna General Hospital’s NICU and Christmas stockings for the Salvation Army. Their work evokes comfort and warmth through vibrant textures, shapes, and imagery.

Nurturing Creativity and Community

This exhibition is free to view during our building hours, and all works are available for purchase. By holding exhibitions like this, the RCA provides a vital platform where local artists are seen, valued, and celebrated. These shows strengthen community by creating spaces where creativity sparks dialogue, where families, neighbours, and visitors encounter the arts in a welcoming environment, and where emerging and established artists alike can grow and inspire.

Joining the Kelowna Visual and Performing Arts Centre Society (KVPACS) extends this impact. Membership gives you exclusive gallery invitations, early access to events, and the opportunity to support initiatives that champion local artists and art education. Your involvement helps sustain a vibrant arts landscape in Kelowna, ensuring that creativity remains accessible, celebrated, and woven into the heart of our community. When you support KVPACS, you are supporting more than art. You are supporting shared stories, inspiration, and human expression that strengthen the social and cultural fabric of our city for everyone to experience and enjoy.
